The new phenomenology: optical perception of urban space

9. August 11.00 – 12.00 Uhr
Audimax, Steubenstraße 6
Ercu Gogul (Tongji University Shanghai)

Ever since we decide to seek to know more about ourselves than the things surrounding us, we have been pushed towards to a domain where we move far away from ourselves. Human nature of transforming everything he is seeking to know into an “object”, can be blamed for this alienation, as objectification of the very “subject” is arguably the main point of our frustration.

Ercu Gogul has over 15 years of experience on design and design based research, covering various fields. His interest lie on representation, computation and digital crafting as well as teaching creativity to students from any background and levels and help them develop novel tools for abstraction and for design thinking. Ercu held teaching appointments at AA Visiting Schools, Hong Kong, Tsinghua, Shanghai and Tongji Universities and was an invited critic at Catholic and Harvard Universities. He holds Master degrees on design theory and digital media from TU Istanbul and Harvard GSD.
